Making IOT Work for the Customer

Azolla Building Occupancy Management

Azolla Source is a cloud-based system that helps companies understand their building occupancy and usage levels, allowing businesses to reduce costs. Using camera and video feeds to interpret people’s movements and to extrapolate occupancy and area usage, Azolla creates an understanding of how your property is used. This data can then be used to correctly provision key services from On-demand cleaning, catering and energy usage.

Azolla is an agnostic data trending tool that allows occupancy data to be trended across time, allowing Facilities Managers to accurately understand their resource and energy needs. What makes Azolla unique is that this data can then be used to dynamically alter the preventative maintenance plan for a site, changing the resource allocation based on demand.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Day 1 Benefits

  • Real-Time Occupancy Tracking
  • On-Demand Cleaning
  • Smart re-stocking of Occupancy Related Perishables
  • Provide other departments with access to occupancy data, helping internal Workplace Experience teams understand the effectiveness of communications.

Month 1 Benefits

  • Previous +
  • Detailed building usage analytics
  • Helpdesk vs Occupancy Comparative Data Sets
  • 100% Accuracy for occupancy driven purchases delivering a saving of up to 40% per month.

Year 1 Benefits

  • Previous +
  • Full understanding of workplace utilisation metrics across all seasons, providing qualitive data when re-calibrating of Gross Internal Area (GIA) at lease break.
  • Data-driven work schedules for both Hard and Soft Services based on occupancy.
  • A blueprint understanding of building function which allows for accurate forecasting of usage based occupancy trends.

How does it work?

The Azolla IoT Tech interprets images received as objects and compares the object to an object class, for example a person shape or a door. Floor spaces can be mapped out and zones specified or ignored. People passing over the zone are counted in or out of the area and in this way movements can be mapped. The technology  can use one camera for an entire space with multiple entry and exit points. This minimises the hardware investment and encourages the software to do the majority of the work in object recognition.

Data privacy and personal boundaries are a key component within the system design. Areas can be ignored which means the technology treats them as if they don’t exist and the image blocks that area. People recognition is not possible with the system so the image focuses on the object’s outline to make a determination. Finally the data used for object recognition is stored locally at site and once a count is made the data is deleted.

Items such as cleaning & catering requests, reactive technical requests, and any third-party sensor data, including your building’s own BMS, provides a simple Occupancy vs Data Source comparison which after trending over time can then be forecasted into the future. This provides a validated basis for budgeting and scheduling.

Source is a modular system, which means the more sensors you add, the higher the qualitative nature of the data, bringing higher accuracy and improved forecasting.

Single Sensor + Azolla

With one sensor placed in your main reception area we can track occupancy in real time and trend that data against key Azolla data points. For instance, occupancy versus number of cleaning hours. This data alone will allow for forecasting of cleaning hours required based on increased or decreased occupancy.

Multiple Occupancy Sensors + Azolla

By extending the number of sensors at key locations such as canteens, outside meeting rooms or outside toilet areas, we can develop a detailed heat map outlining how staff are utilising the building. We can also trend occupancy versus request data, providing key insights for high use areas.

Full Sensor Suite + Azolla

Due to the large number of sources provided, this option ensures highly accurate forecasting of occupancy related activities alongside real-time monitoring of building assets via additional sensors or through integration with your buildings BMS (Building Management System). This allows for specific problem identification with instant corrective actions based on incoming data. All of which can be trended against multiple data values.
